Obituary

William Irl Schroerlucke, Sr., 85, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 29, 2023.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jospeh H. Schroerlucke; mother, Dorothy J. Allen; step-father, Charles O. Allen; and mother-in-law, Mahala Rice.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Janice Francis Schroerlucke; daughter, Kimberly Hoyer (Terry); son, William Schroerlucke, Jr.; granddaughters, Jennifer Hoyer, Jacqueline Boeving (Kent) and Darian Schroerlucke; grandsons, Johnathan Hoyer and Blake Schroerlucke; sisters, Linda Allen Brian (Bill) and Cheri Allen Kurlas (Ken); sisters-in-law, Phyllis Hardwick and Jean LaChance (Bob); brother-in-law, Farris Rice (Brenda); great granddaughters, Parker and Saylor Jane; great grandsons, Alexander, James "Maverick", Braxton and Ledger; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins.

After graduating from Southern High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After serving his country he returned home in 1959, met the love of his life in September and married her in December.  He worked along side his step-father opening a family run business, Allen and Son Texaco Service station. In time he progressed to industrial plant operations engineering, retiring from Toyota Motor Manufacturing in Georgetown, KY.  He always made time to give back to his community whether it be coaching elementary school football at St. Gabriel in his younger years to participating in larger projects like Habitat for Humanity later in life.  He was an officer in the southern High School Alumni Association, helping raise money for their scholarship fund for college bound students through Bingo and fundraisers.  He loved spending time with his wife (dancing whenever they had the chance) and his children and grandchildren, making family vacations a priority.  A good man is hard to find, a great man even more rare.  He will be missed as much as he is loved.
