Wanda Hanke Wood, 83, died Monday, September 14, 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky.

She was born July 5, 1943, daughter of Willy and Marie Bailey Smith.  Wanda was a retired secretary, a graduate of Male High School and a member of Fern Creek United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, She was preceded in death by her brother, Will Smith; and former husband, Boyd Hanke.

Survivors include her sister, Phyllis Edlin; children, Bill (Malana) and Andre Essington and Eric Hanke (Dawn); grandchildren, Dustin, Alyssa, Tripp, Max, Olivia and Jake; and husband, Carroll Wood and his sons, Bob and Bill Wood.

Her funeral is 10am Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with private burial.  Visitation is 3-7pm Wednesday.
