It is with deep sadness to announce the loss of Dr. Waheed Ahmad, an accomplished and respected Vascular Surgeon in Kentuckiana, a husband, father and grandfather.
Dr. Waheed Ahmad passed away in Louisville, Kentucky on October 21st.
Dr. Ahmad dedicated his life to medicine and his family. An avid marathon runner and lover of music, history and horses, he was a man that cared deeply about his work and family. He was born in the Mozang district in Lahore Pakistan, attended King Edward Medical University in 1963, and completed his FRCS at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, England, before completing his General Surgery and Vascular Surgery training at University of Louisville 1968-1971. Dr. Ahmad was a board member and founding member of the Islamic Center Of Louisville on River Road, was active in the Louisville Surgical Society, and made significant and long lasting contributions to both.
He was a humorous man, kind, full of energy and vivacity and demonstrated courage and determination in all his endeavors. He is a role model for his children and grandchildren as an immigrant who established himself in the US as a leader and a surgeon who saved 100s of lives. His personality, contribution and legacy will live on forever.
Waheed Ahmad is survived by his wife, Deborah Ahmad, their four children Sarah, John, Pasha and Surriya and his two grandchildren, and he loved them all with all of his heart.
