Stanley Earl Hornbeck, Sr., 90, died Saturday, October 11, 2025.

He was born November 4, 1934 in Louisville, Kentucky, son of Earl and Ruth Jane Hornbeck.  Stanley was retired from General Electric.  He served in the Kentucky Navel Reserve and was a member of Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge, former member of Beulah Presbyterian Church and attended Fairmount Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Fern Creek High School and was inducted into the Fern Creek High School Athletic Hall of Fame.  He was offered two college football scholarships but chose to attend Western Kentucky University where he played the guard position.  He continued his love for football by coaching at the YMCA.

Stanley was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy; first wife, Polly; second wife, Linda; beloved companion, Mary; and sisters, Joyce Kaiser Manual, Eleanor Young, and Lorraine Reid.

Survivors include his children, Tom Hornbeck (Cindy), Michael Hornbeck (Carol), Stanley Hornbeck, Jr. (Lisa) and Ruthann Hornbeck Greenwell (Tom); stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

His family appreciates and thanks the wonderful staff at Traditions of Beaumont for taking good care of Stanley.

His funeral is 2pm Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky.  Visitation is after 10am until the time of the service.
