Shizue Gould, 93, died peacefully in her home on Friday, September 18, 2026. She was the anchor to a large and loving family, a steady source of strength, faith, and warmth whose presence held generations together. A faithful and loving Christian, she devoted her life to serving others and was an active member of Buechel Presbyterian Church, where she served in many roles, including as an Elder.

She retired from Watterson Elementary School, where she worked in the cafeteria—primarily as a baker—and was known for her kindness, dedication, and the positive impact she made on students and coworkers.

Shizue had a deep passion for Hawaiian hula dance and was a long‑time member, cultural leader, and instructor with the Kahelelani Hawaiian Club. Through her leadership and teaching, she shared her heritage and enriched the lives of many.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan H. Gould.

Survivors include her brother, Yoshihide Maemoto; her children, Larry Gould (Terry), Karen Wooldridge (David), Sandra White (Robert), Steven Gould (Bunny), and Christopher Gould (Christina); 15 grandchildren; and 25 great‑grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY. Entombment will be private.
