Shirley Lee Steedly, 87 years old, passed on Thursday, January 12, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones when she passed. Shirley was born on April 5, 1935, to the late John James and Helen Louise Hellman. Shirley was proceeded in death by her husband of 35 years, Elmer H. Steedly, and her favorite and only best sister, Betty Jean Ryan.

Shirley was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother/BaBa and great-grandmother. She instilled strength, resilience and independence in all of her daughters.  She had many friends and was well-loved by all who knew her. She cared deeply for her family, church family, and friends.

Shirley was the last living charter member of Bethany United Church of Christ founded in 1956. She was a breast cancer survivor, and she loved the University of Louisville Cardinals.

She is survived by her four daughters, Vicki Miller (Bruce), Jill Anderson (Dennis), Jackie Sams (Tom), Amy Muth (Michael); her grandchildren Greg Miller (Megan Keane), Amanda Schmidt (Jason), Kaela Fletcher (Trey), Taylor Cummings (Sean), Kenzie Miles (Jason Kerr) and Chandler, Garrison, Braedon, Cameron, and Keagan Muth, and her great-grandchildren, Carter, Kaelob, Grayson, Rachel, Mercer, Baker, Emler, Levi, Jason, Ahmya, and Paxton.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at 3pm at Bethany United Church of Christ, 10400 Old Preston Highway, Louisville, KY. Expression of sympathy may be  made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure or Hosparus Health.
