Shirley Ann Kotheimer (née Saffer), 90, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, January 7, 2026.

Born on July 15, 1935, she was the daughter of James Martin Saffer and Leona Wacker Saffer. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Kotheimer, Sr.; her sister, Margaret Saffer Wirth; and her son-in-law, Mark Gleason.

She is survived by her children: Karen Allen (John), Kathy Rademaker (Joe), Ellen Kotheimer, Donna Neary (Ed), and Donald Kotheimer, Jr. (Christa); her grandchildren: Melissa Klein (Christian), Jessica Pollard (Damian DeJesus), Kaity Rademaker (Danny Teeter), Lexi Rademaker, Jackson Neary, and Brigid Neary; and her great-grandchildren Harper Pollard, Luke Neary, and Pierce Teeter. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Janice Desmond.

Shirley was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School and attended Jefferson Community College. She was a longtime member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2026, at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. Funeral Mass and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity supporting veterans.
