Sheryl Lynn Johnson Ranney Obituary

Sheryl Lynn Johnson Ranney, 77, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away peacefully in her home during the early morning hours of January 6, 2025, after a three-year battle with cancer/MDS. She was a devoted Christian, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Sheryl was a member of the Park Boulevard/Gardiner Lane Church of Christ for 67 years. She was a 1965 graduate of duPont Manual High School. In her 35-year career as a cosmetologist, she owned her own shop, managed salons, and served as an instructor and mentor to many. She loved to read, sew, and root for her beloved Kentucky Wildcats.

Sheryl was born on March 2, 1947, in Goodlettsville, Tennessee to the late William R. and Cleo (Williams) Johnson. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 32 years, Darrel E. Ranney, and sister, Mary Evelyn Rhodes.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Shanna Lynn Ranney and Lori Lynn (Chris) Jones; grandchildren, Kyle Sullivan, Kayla (George) Oakleaf, Rachel (Jesse, "Ol' What's His Face") Barnes, and Aleigha, Aaron, Abbey and Amelia Jones; great-grandchildren, Makinlee, Avery, and Grayson; and her church family and a host of beloved friends.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10 at Fern Creek Funeral Home located at 5406 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40291. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11 at Fern Creek Funeral Home.
