Saw Kyaw Tun, 90, passed away August 16, 2024.
He was born in Rangoon, Burma, but was raised by his aunt and grandmother on MaOoBin. He graduated from High School, Mosokwin rd. Myaung Mya Myo in 1953. This was the same year he was baptized. He began teaching in 1957 and quickly rose to an administrative position at the Upper Myanmar Adventist Seminary. He did advanced study (BBA) at Spicer Memorial College in Puna, India, then worked in a variety of clerical/accounting positions in Burma Union. He received a missionary license in 1977 and was ordained in 1994 by the Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
Saw Kyaw Tun worked as a business and health educator and as a pastor. He was a very jolly and witty man. He was a hard worker and loved his family. He was a good singer and dancer and could play music with leaves. He regularly led morning and evening worship and sang church hymns. His excellent renditions of Indian dance and song "Zin-Thi-Ki; PyPya-Lay" made him well loved by the staff and students at Spicer College. He was an excellent sportsman (football/soccer).
Saw Kyaw Tun was not raised by his father, but he fulfilled the duty of a good, faithful, and loving husband and father. He married Eh Paw Oo in 1973 and provided well for her until her death in 2017. He also grieved the death of his daughter, Lily Tun, who passed away in 2024.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Tun (Aye) and Si Blue Tun (MeeMee); daughter, Nancy Tun; and grandchildren, Evangel, Nathaniel, and Matthew Tun and Nicolas Si Tun.
He was laid to rest August 24, 2024 in Crosswater Gardens Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky following a funeral service at Fern Creek Funeral Home, Louisville, Kentucky
