Rosemary Corder Reynolds, of Louisville, KY, passed peacefully from this life into eternal life on December 29. 2024. Rosemary was a devoted wife to her husband William T. Reynolds. She was the beloved mother of her daughter Susan and her son Bill. "MomMom" was adored by her four grandsons. Her six young great-grandchildren brought her much joy during the final years of her life. Rosemary will be deeply missed by those who loved her most.
Born on March 9, 1927, in Somerset, KY, Rosemary was the daughter of the late Dewey Hobson "Hob" Corder and Georgia Lee Gordon Corder. As a child of The Great Depression, her teenage years were shaped by World War II. Rosemary graduated from Somerset High School in 1945 and later graduated from a local business school. In 1948, she married her high school sweetheart, William T. "Bill" Reynolds. The couple moved to Louisville in 1951 so that Bill could begin his career as a Jefferson County Public Schools teacher and administrator. Bill served as the principal of Jeffersontown High School until his untimely death in 1972.
Rosemary worked for Kentucky's social services department for approximately 10 years prior to taking time off to raise her children. Upon her return to the workforce, Rosemary worked for 27 years at Fern Creek High School serving as both a clerk and secretary to the principal.
In retirement, Rosemary devoted her time and attention to her family. She enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and vacationing at her family's cabin on Lake Cumberland. She was a faithful member of Beulah Presbyterian Church for over 65 years.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Rosemary was preceded in death by her sister, Katherine Corder Colyer, her brother, Loyd Corder, and a great-granddaughter, Ellen Johnston Thurman.
Rosemary is survived by her daughter, Susan Reynolds Thurman (Dr. Thomas) of Louisville and her son, Dr. William T. Reynolds, Jr. (Ann) of Richmond, KY. Also surviving are her grandsons Dr. Jeff Thurman (Dr. Jenna) of Louisville, William Reynolds, IV, Esq. (Kelsey) of St. Petersburg, FL, Patrick Reynolds (Danielle) of St. Petersburg, FL, and Dr. Todd Thurman of Florence, KY. Her great-grandchildren include Williiam T. Reynolds, VI, Grant Thomas Thurman, Scarlett Faye Reynolds, Rosemary Eleanor Reynolds, Anna Grace Thurman, and Emma Jean Thurman. A nephew, Mark Colyer (Lynn) of Somerset, KY, a niece, Ann Curry Stocker of Covington, Louisiana, and numerous great-nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation for Rosemary will take place on Friday, January 3, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fern Creek Funeral Home. A service of remembrance will begin at 6:00 p.m. A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at 12:00 noon in Somerset, KY.
The Reynolds and Thurman families would like to thank the many compassionate caregivers who assisted Rosemary during her last few years, and especially those who were with her during her final days.
