At that time she volunteered at  Melvin Grade School and was soon hired as the school's secretary and bookkeeper, retiring from the Floyd County School System in 1994. Throughout her many years at Melvin Rosemary delighted and flourished in the company of the students and staff, where her kind and generous spirit endeared her to all whom she met. Rosemary and Glennis organized the school's parent-teacher organization and together worked spearheading projects providing funding for countless improvements throughout the school.

Rosemary relocated to Louisville after the deaths of her precious husband Glennis and daughter Cecelia Lou, where she remained until her death.
