Robert "Bob"
Smith
August 12, 2022
Robert "Bob" Edward Smith of Prospect, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2022. He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Jane Bryan Smith, children: Kelly Kennedy (John), Brian Smith (Tracy), Erik Smith (Tammy), grandchildren: Carly Kennedy, Zach Kennedy, Bryna Jane Smith, Wyatt Smith, and Evan Smith, sister, Martha Martin (Elmo), and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Anna and B. Ray Smith, sister, Frances Vogel, brother Benjamin "Buddy" Smith and sister Patsy Smith.
Bob graduated from duPont Manual High School in 1956 and truly enjoyed participating in Alumni events, trips, and luncheons with his high school friends. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville although he remained an avid University of Kentucky fan his whole adult life. It was not uncommon for him to call and ask when the Cats were playing this week. He was a Master Mason of Shively-Lewis-Parkland Lodge for over 50 years and was also a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. Bob was very proud of his service in the Air National Guard and remained a voracious reader of all things related to military history. He treasured his trips to Pearl Harbor, Washington, DC, and Annapolis.
As a Certified Public Accountant in private practice, Bob travelled extensively and was able to work in places like Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Boston, New Orleans, Las Vegas, and many others. He loved to travel with his family and enjoyed many years of boating weekends at Barren River Lake and family beach trips to Destin and Seaside. He and Jane traveled to Hawaii 13 times during their marriage which was one of their favorite vacation spots. Bob was an avid sportsman and passed along his love of hunting and fishing to his family. It was once said that he had the skills of a surgeon when it came to field dressing a deer.
After retiring from private practice as a Certified Public Accountant, Bob was able to enjoy his final years traveling with his high school sweetheart Jane and their friends as well as keeping up with his grandchildren and their many activities. He was their biggest fan.
Bob was always generous with his resources, his time, and his love. He loved Big and Loud and with his Whole Heart. A Celebration of Life will be held at Crescent Hill Baptist Church on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at 11:00 am.
