Obituary

Robert George "Bob" Bedell, 70, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2015 surrounded by his sons and family.

Bob was born June 26, 1944 in Los Angeles, CA. He attended Bell Gardens High School where he was president of the student body and received the Southern California All-State Basketball Most Valuable Player two years in a row. He played four years of basketball at Stanford University, where he majored in history and education.

After graduation, he played in the ABA from 1967-76 for the Anaheim Amigos, and the Dallas Chaparrals, was Director of Promotions for the San Antonio Spurs and the Kentucky Colonels, and retired as a chemical district sales manager.

While Bob enjoyed much success in his life, his true joy was family and friends. Watching his sons and grandsons play sports was pure joy. His kind heart and love of laughter won him many friends from across the country, many lasting a lifetime.

He is survived by his sons and their mother, Robert Vernon (Stephanie), John Garnett (Jess), and Marilyn R Bedell; grandsons, Austin and Jack Bedell; siblings, Warren (Karen), William (Kathy), Winfield (Katy), and Winona Bedell and Wilma Seidernsticker (Fred); long time partner, Jean Myers; and many nieces and nephews.

His memorial visitation is 6-8pm Friday and noon-4 Saturday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.

A special thank you to the people who were there with him until the end helping him preserve to that end the same dignity, grace and humor with which he lived his life: Hutch, Maggie, Ron, Marilyn, and his brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made in Robert's memory to Stanford University Athletics Buck/ Cardinal Club, Stanford University, Development Services, PO Box 20466, Stanford, CA 94309-0466
