Richard L. "Howdy" Summers, 72, passed away at his home in Aiken SC, on April 23,2023, after an exhausting battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Richard was a 1969 graduate of Valley High School where he played football and ran track. He was employed by Ford Motor Company for over 35 years. In his leisure time he enjoyed all things outdoors and was an avid U of L basketball fan.

He is survived by his partner Susan; their children, Brandi Hays ( fiancé, Matt Rosene) of Rockdale Tx and Travis Summers (Nicole) of Louisville Ky; granddaughters, Alyssa Summers (fiancé Dalton Lalonde),Skyler Hays, Kenzie Summers and Kayley Gilbert; his brother, Ronnie Summers; and sisters, Charlotte Herberger, Judy Copeland and Ginny Carnes.

He was predeceased by his parents, James E and Rhoda Blackwell Summers; and brother, Jimmie Summers.

Family and friends are invited to memorial visitation on Friday June 9, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm concluding with a celebration service at 6 pm at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
