Obituary

Richard Fred Levin, 89, passed away on the morning of Wednesday, March 19, 2025.  He was born on June 16, 1935 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to Milton and Evelyn (Spidle) Levin.  He married Barbara Jean (Miles) Levin, his wife of 66 years, on November 27, 1954 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.  They resided in Louisville, Kentucky for the majority of their married life.

Survivors are his son Richard Miles Levin (Sally McDonald) and grandsons Grant Levin, Lake Forest, Illinois; Kyle Levin, Boston, Massachusetts; and Andrew Levin, Chicago, Illinois.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean (Miles) Levin.

Richard graduated from William Penn High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and later attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering.  He began his career in engineering at Gannett Fleming Corddry and Carpenter in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania, and later moved to the home appliance division of General Electric, which brought him and Barbara to Louisville, Kentucky.  During this time, Richard also served as a citizen Airman in the Kentucky Air National Guard and later became a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Richard moved into office supply sales roles with Standard Register and the Ditto division of Bell & Howell.  His love for entrepreneurship led him to found Business Management Products, a commercial printing company based in Louisville. He returned to sales late in his career through positions with Navy Brand Manufacturing and the men's apparel departments at Rodes, Martin's and Jacobson's.

Richard was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a storyteller who loved  telling a joke as well as a good debate.  Richard enjoyed entertaining his grandsons and friends with memories from his past.  Some of his passions included his train collection, koi pond, chess, and a well-made Manhattan. He was a devoted caregiver to his wife, Barbara, in her later years.
