Richard E. "Butch" Knowland, Sr was born October 19, 1939 and died November 10, 2020.

He was preceded in death his father, Ernest "Bean" Knowland; mother, Dorothy Massey (Jack); sister, Barbara Conley; and brother, William Knowland.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Shirley Roy Knowland; son, Richard E. Knowland , Jr (Lisa Kelly); daughters, Becky Bowlds (Rodger), Patricia Jones (Tony), and Mary Cough; brother, Joe " Nicky" Jones (Cindy); grandchildren, Alex Knowland (Shan), Leah Knowland, Jennifer Salgado (Rodger), Jeremy Ready, Michael Durbin (Sadie), Kyle Bowlds, Derrick Ernst (Jessica) and Dwayne Ernst (Samantha Lasley). Also surviving is a host of great grandchildren and  nephews and nieces.

He retired from Gamble Brothers as a supervisor and was a deacon at Emmanuel Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing with Jack Massey, no matter the weather and he loved going to the movies with his son every Saturday.

His funeral is 12pm Friday, November 13, 2020 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with burial in Bethany Cemetery.  Visitation is 3-7pm Thursday, November 12, 2020.
