Phillip
Stine
d. Jul 31, 2026
Phillip Owen Roy Stine, 90 of Fern Creek, passed away at his home with his family at his side on July 31, 2026. He was born to the late James Roy Stine and Estelle (Drury) Stine on February 12, 1936 in Washington County, Kentucky. Phillip was married to Verna Mae (Dunsmore) Stine on March 31, 1957 at Perryville Christian Church. They made Fern Creek their home in 1962.
Phillip was a graduate of Willisburg High School. Following high school, he operated heavy machinery for Highland Construction and was a dedicated maintenance manager for Martin L. Adams and Sons for the last 38 years of his working career, retiring in 2003.
Phillip enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden each summer. He loved watching his westerns, Gunsmoke, and every John Wayne movie. You could often find him tinkering in his garage and he took great pleasure in helping everyone in whatever way he could. Most notably repairing and maintaining vehicles and machinery for others.
In addition to his parents, Phillip was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae, their son, Dennis Keith Stine, and his siblings: Jackie Stine, Dorothy Stine Cornish, Buford Stine, J.C. Stine, and Annelle Stine Stockton.
He is survived by his children, Stephen (Susan) Stine, Stephanie, Sally, and Scott (Kelly) Stine, grandchildren, Tarra (Douglas) Mitchell, Devon, Jessica, Merritt, Sarah, and Ashley Stine, great-grandchildren, Anden Owen and Shepherd Elie Mitchell, his beloved chihuahua, Kenzie, numerous relatives and friends. Phillip will be fondly remembered and dearly missed.
Pallbearers (active and honorary): Stephen Stine, Scott Stine, Carroll Stine, Roger Dunsmore, Kevin Dunsmore, Tony Dunsmore, Devon Stine, Merritt Stine, Ashley Stine, and Anden Mitchell.
A funeral service to celebrate Phillip’s life will be conducted at 12pm on Friday, August 7, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with interment to follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Guests are invited to attend visitation at Fern Creek Funeral Home from 3-8pm on Thursday, August 6, 2026 and before the funeral on Friday, August 7, 2026.
