Paul K
Garman
February 19, 2026
Paul "Kreutzer" Garman, age 92, of Hoschton, GA, passed away on Thursday, February 19, 2026.
Born in Louisville, Kentucky, Kreutzer resided for many years in Stone Mountain, Georgia; on Merritt Island, Florida; and later in Hoschton, Georgia. Kreutzer proudly served his nation in the United States Army as military police, an experience that reflected his lifelong commitment to public service and helped shape his future career in criminal justice education.
Following his military service, Kreutzer devoted his professional life to teaching at DeKalb Community College, where he was a respected instructor of Criminal Justice and Sociology. Kreutzer's passion for aviation was a defining part of his life. He was an active participant in the Civil Air Patrol, where he combined his love of flying his Cesna 172 with his spirit of volunteerism and service. He also contributed his time and energy to Partners of the Americas, fostering international understanding and friendship. Through this work and his personal travels, Kreutzer developed a special affection for Brazil, a country he visited often and held close to his heart.
Having an affinity for abstract art, Kreutzer expressed delight at swirling and brushing colors onto canvas, enjoying the interplay of the different hues materializing before him. He created and framed several pieces of original art over his lifetime.
"Dogs are a man's best friend" is a famous sentiment that resonated with Kreutzer. A true lover of the furry, four-footed companion, he was known to recall a story or two of adventures with his beloved childhood canine friend, "Boots". He was also especially grateful for the white Samoyed huskies who shared his adult life. Kreutzer knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, as did his parents Paul and Virginia Garman. Unable to attend church in his latter years, he welcomed sharing Scripture together, reading his Bible, and would hold hands to join in prayer, and often concluded visits with a big "bear" hug to say goodbye.
Kreutzer was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Ruth (Mann) and Paul Garman. He is survived by his daughters, Kelly (Jeff) Dahlin and Andra (Matthew) Hawks; and grandchildren James Dahlin, Daniel Dahlin, Danielle Hawks, Caleb Hawks, Sarah Hawks, Mary Hawks, David Hawks, Joshua Hawks and Hannah Hawks.
