Patricia Mary
Ostrander
d. Oct 10, 2026
Patricia Mary (Dunn) Ostrander passed away in Louisville, Kentucky, on October 10, 2026. Born in Louisville, she spent the halcyon days of her life in Evansville, Indiana, where she pursued her passions for drama, literature, and the arts as an alumna of the University of Evansville. Years later, she brought these gifts to Holy Redeemer School; there, she taught English, literature, religion, and creative writing with a natural coryphaeus energy while also coaching the speech team, guiding students in dramatic interpretation and public speaking.
A powerful creative force with a true Promethean spark, Patricia was an artist who drew, painted, practiced fine calligraphy, and shaped worlds from pure imagination. She expressed her vibrant spirit through sewing clothing and handcrafted costumes, writing children’s stories, and singing old musical numbers with remarkably unwavering pitch and an extraordinary memory for lyrics. When reading aloud, she possessed a rare ability to awaken magic in the hearts of children; maintaining complete immersion in distinct character voices, she turned a simple book into a production of pure theatrical incantation.
A devout Catholic, her faith was a central pillar of her life. She was an active parishioner at Holy Redeemer, where she regularly read during church services; furthermore, she maintained a constant devotion to praying the Rosary. She also held a special place in her heart for her beloved dogs: Bandit, Odie, and Phoenix.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel D. Dunn and Angeline B. Dunn, and her loving husband of 34 years, Michael S. Ostrander.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie Spalding; her son, Erik Ostrander; Michael Ostrander’s two daughters, Nancy Lever and Sarah Ostrander; her grandchildren, Kai Dill, Luca Dill, and Melah Ostrander; twin sister, Sharon Morley; sister, Susan Hart; brother, Christopher Dunn—and all of her loyal, devoted nieces and nephews.
The memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Ky 40291.
