Nancy Jean Downs, 96, of Mt Washington KY, passed away on February 27, 2024.

Nancy was born on August 29, 1927 to Vernon Lee Burress and Mabel Givens Burress in Bluefield, VA.

Nancy moved to Annapolis, Maryland where she was a bookkeeper and there she met her husband, Gerald Downs. They married in 1944 and welcomed their daughter, Sharon, in 1948.

She was a bookkeeper for many years and a long time resident of Fern Creek, KY.  She loved spending time with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and was always up for an outing for dinner and a good movie.

Nancy was predeceased by her father, Vernon Lee Burress, mother, Mabel Givens Burress, husband, Gerald W Downs, daughter Sharon L Goodlett, siblings, George Compton, Phyllis Coates, Barbara Bane, Barkley Burress, Barry Burress, and Clifton Burress.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Laura Thompson Gunter (Leslie) Dahlonega, GA, grandson, Paul M.C. Thompson (Thomas) New York City, and great grandchildren, Whitney Followell (Katelyn) Athens, GA, Matthew Followell (Chelsea), Stephen Followell (Emily) all residing in Oak Ridge, TN, and Blake Followell, Atlanta, GA.

A celebration of her life will be held at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Fern Creek, KY 40291 on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at 2 pm.
