Obituary

Monicah Cherono Rotich, lovingly known as Tula, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, in
Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 40. Her passing has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of all who
knew and loved her.
Born on August 28, 1985, at AIC Kapsowar Mission, Monicah was the cherished last-born daughter of
Benjamin Rotich Kanda and Anna Cheptoo Kitum. She was a beloved sister to the late John Rotich,
Julius Rotich, the late Catherine Jemaiya, Margaret Rotich, Samuel Rotich, the late Salina Jepkor, Luka
Rotich, and Susan Rotich. She was a devoted mother to her son Liam, a loyal niece, and a loving
cousin to many.
Monicah lived a life defined by service, compassion, and quiet strength. She began her early education
at Chesoi and Sinon Primary Schools and later attended Kaptagat Girls High School. Driven by a
passion for children and teaching, she joined Ishara Teachers' College in Embu, where she graduated
and began her career as a teacher at Sisela Academy in Kitale, and later at St. Teresa of Avilla in
Ndalat. Her students adored her, and she quickly became known as a gifted educator with a warm
heart.
But Monicah's journey was one of courage and purpose. Seeking greater opportunities, she migrated to
the United States in 2011. From 2013 to 2016, she pursued her studies at Western Kentucky
University, laying the foundation for a new calling—nursing. In 2018, she joined Galen College of
Nursing in Louisville, proudly graduating in 2021. She went on to serve as a registered nurse at Brook
Hospital, where her kindness, patience, and unwavering dedication made her a true blessing to her
patients and colleagues. To everyone she met, she was a ray of sunshine—gentle, warm, and full of
grace.
A devoted member of the Catholic Church, Monicah lived her faith deeply, embodying humility,
generosity, and compassion in all she did.
Her life will be celebrated with a viewing on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Fern Creek
Funeral Home, located at 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky. She will be laid to rest at the
Rotich family home in Kapyego, Kenya, where her story began and where her spirit will remain forever
cherished.
As we say goodbye today, let us remember Monicah not with sorrow, but with gratitude—for the gift of
having known her, for the love she shared, and for the light she brought into our lives. Let us honor her
memory by living lives of kindness, compassion, and generosity, just as she did.
Rest in peace, Monicah. You were deeply loved, and you will be forever missed
