Midori Koga Ducker 1932-2024


Midori Koga Ducker passed away on September 2, 2024 at the age of 91 due to lung cancer. She died in the home of her son, Michael Ducker, surrounded by her children, Michael and Annette; granddaughters, Brittany and Lindsey; and great granddaughter, Lily


She was born on December 2, 1932 in Imari, Japan to Chiyoji Asow Koga (father)  and Yoshi Tanaka (mother). She was the only girl in a family with four boys, Toru, Shigami, Isoyo, and Makoto Koga. She came to America as a war bride in 1953 and obtained her Certificate of Naturalization in 1969. She lived in Louisville, KY where she raised two children, Annette Ducker Spencer and Michael Lee Ducker. She moved to Landrum, SC for 13 years to be near her daughter and then returned to Louisville in 2014 where she lived with her son, Michael, until her death.


She loved to cook, kept an immaculate house, was highly skilled with sewing and enjoyed gardening, canning and preserving vegetables. Most of all she loved her family and instilled in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren strong values that have served them well.


She will be forever loved and missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Michael Ducker of Louisville, KY; daughter, Annette Ducker Spencer Landrum, SC; grandchildren, Brittany Ducker Cook (John) of Louisville, KY, Lindsey Ducker of Louisville, KY, and Will Koga Spencer of Landrum, SC ; and great grandchildren, Darren Aponte, Lily Colvin, and Wrenly Spencer.


A graveside service is 10am Monday, September 9, 2024 at Cave Hill Cemetery in Louisville, KY . Those attending will meet at the Grinstead Road gate at 9:45am. Visitation will be 12-4pm Sunday, September 8, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY.
