Obituary

Maryon E. Cissell II "Bud," age 81, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on March 5, 2026. He was born October 16, 1944.

Bud is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie Cissell; his children Lisa Hayes (Rick Hayes), Michelle Humphrey (Chuck Humphrey), Angela Reader (Travis Reader), and Troy Cissell; his grandchildren Duncan Twyman, Harper Kovacs, Elsa Humphrey, Wade Humphrey, Alex Mooney, Ally Mooney, Cody Cissell, and Alexis Cissell; and his brother Ray Cissell (Diana Cissell).

After family, Bud was simply a man who loved to build, fix, grow, and care for the things around him. A skilled electrician and proud member of Local Union 369, he spent his career working with his hands and solving problems—skills that carried over into nearly every part of his life. If something was broken, Bud could fix it. If something needed to be built, he could make it. Friends and family knew that if you needed help, Bud would show up with the tools, the know-how, and the patience to get the job done.

Bud also served his country in the United States Army, a chapter of his life he carried with quiet pride.

At home, he found joy in the simple and meaningful things—tending his garden, working on projects, watching the night sky, and caring for his koi fish pond. He especially loved spending time outdoors, often feeding the ducks and hawks and enjoying the peace that came with nature. Those moments reflected the kind of person he was: steady, thoughtful, and deeply appreciative of the world around him.

More than anything, Bud was a family man. His greatest satisfaction came from helping those he loved—whether it was fixing something around the house, building a project, sharing knowledge, or simply being there when someone needed him. His legacy lives on in the many things he built, the lessons he passed down, and the strong family he loved so much.

A graveside service will be held at a later date, with details to be announced.

In memory of Bud, the family encourages you to plant a tree in your yard, a living tribute that reflects his love for growing things and leaving the world a little better than he found it.
