Mary Rita Mersmann, 92, died Wednesday, May 15, 2024.

She was born February 15, 1932, daughter of William and Esther Vowels Altmiller. Rita was retired from the cafeteria at St. Gabriel Catholic Church. She was a founding member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and enjoyed being a part of their quilting group.

In addition to her parents, Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Mersmann; daughter, Mary Rita Haselhorst; sisters, Joann Shaughnessy and Ruth Azar; and brothers, William and Jim Altmiller.

She is survived by daughters, Martina Goldman (Bobby) and Esther Paul (Mike Taylor); sons, Stephen, Patrick (Denise) and Peter Mersmann; son-in-law, John Haselhorst; 15 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren.

Funeral mass is 10am Thursday, May 23, 2024 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road with entombment in Resthaven Memorial Park.  Visitation is 2-8pm Wednesday, May 22, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
