Mary E. Garrett, 97, died in peace on Friday, September 11, 2026.

She was born Mary Evelyn Cowles on November 12, 1928, daughter of Aubrey and Erma Johnson Cowles.

Mary was a devoted homemaker and member of Highland Park First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon Garrett; daughter, Joan Carol Lush; grandson, Joshua Lush; and sister, Gloria Johnson.

Survivors include her son, Doug Garrett (Gayle); grandchildren, Elyse Grimm (Jeff), Jayne Gibbs (Seth) and Jeremy Lush (Erin); great grandchildren, Oliver Grimm, James Heckenkamp, Finn Heckenkamp, Brittney Lush, Mason Lewis, Hannah Davenport, Sydney Morgan, Alexis Dickinson, and Isabella Morgan; sister, Dorothy Johnson; brother, James Cowles; nieces and nephews.

Her funeral is 6pm Thursday, September 17, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky with private burial. Visitation is after 3pm until the time of the service.
