Obituary

Margaret Ann Frentz Gorbandt, 88, passed away on March 16, 2025. She was born June 21, 1936,  the daughter of Mary and Milton Frentz and sister of Betty Frentz Wallen.

She graduated from Eastern High School in 1954. She attended Lindenwood College, Indiana University and earned a Bachelor and Master in music from the University of Kentucky (1961), where she was a member of Theta Mu, Mu Phi Epsilon, Tau Beta Sigma.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William Fredrick Gorbandt. She was a loving, devoted mother to five daughters; Rebecca Snodgrass (Kent), Cynthia Gorbandt, Diane Sawyer (Charles), Lisa Pigman (Guy) and Sherri Veech (Bryan); nine grandchildren, Scott Ashcraft, Traci Ashcraft, Michael Hallman (Kelsey), Erica Hiser (Matthew), Matthew Pigman, Kathryn Bybee (Jordan), Alexis Harbsmeier (Matthew Gumbel) and Nicholas Veech (Emelia); three great grandchildren, Aiden Ashcraft, Ashley Hallman and Morgan Veech.

She was a dedicated State and Civic Community Advocate serving in: Wilderness Road Girl Scout Council as a leader, Kentucky Kidney Foundation, Buechel-Fern Creek Jaycee-ettes, Fern Creek Band Parents Association, St. Matthews Younger Women's Club, where she assisted in obtaining Louisville's first Jaws of Life, led Project Life Blood acquiring Louisville's first Kidney Dialysis Machine after which she was awarded Outstanding Young Woman of America in 1970. Her hobbies included attending University of Kentucky Sporting events for over 50 years, traveling, swimming, orchestral flute player, gourmet cooking, knitting and chauffeuring her daughters to piano, dance and band functions.
