Marcella
Yunt
November 20, 2025
Rose Marcella Yunt, known lovingly to family and friends as Marcella, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Marcella was a force of nature for 97 years — lively, sharp-minded, and full of determination. She approached life with bright curiosity and a spirited confidence that made her truly unforgettable. A devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, her greatest joy in life was raising her five daughters. She loved her family deeply and found joy in sewing, reading, and staying active in her parish as a long-time member of St. Gabriel Church. She and her husband were also the proud former owners of Fern Creek Restaurant, where her warmth and hospitality became a cherished part of the community.
Marcella was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Noble H. Yunt; her daughter Deby Haynes; her first grandson Scott Hilton; her son-in-law Jim Hilton; and eight siblings who have welcomed her home.
She is survived by her daughters Kathy Hilton, Janet Davis (Jim), Denise Cockerel (Billy), and Nancy McNatt (Butch), as well as her son-in-law Dwight Haynes, husband of her late daughter Deby. Marcella is also survived by her siblings Jane Houck, Larry Houck (Charli), and Kitty Brey, who will miss her dearly.
Marcella leaves behind many grandchildren who filled her life with joy, including those of Kathy — Cliff Hilton (Ashley), Barbara Kelley (DJ), and Matt Hilton (Kasi); those of Janet — Jimi Davis Jr. (Shay); those of Denise and Billy — Troy Willis (Karen), Chuck Willis (Krista), and Talley Russell (Clelland); those of her late daughter Deby — Marie Miller (Mac) and Spencer Haynes; and those of Nancy — Daniel McNatt (Amy), Liz Frieders (Nick), Lori Coehlo (Dan), and Becca McNatt. She is loved by 31 great-grandchildren, with one on the way, as well as her extended family.
Marcella will be remembered for her resilience, her generosity, and the unwavering devotion she showed to her family. Her legacy of love, strength, and spirited presence will continue to live on in all who were blessed to know her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, from 3:00–7:00 PM at Fern Creek Funeral Home. Her funeral service will follow on Wednesday, November 26, at 2:00 PM. A private burial will follow.
