Obituary

Lisa Ann Schmidt, 66, died Monday, July 20, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born March 5, 1960 in Glasgow, Kentucky, daughter of Andrew and Frances Marie Johnson. She was valedictorian of the 1978 class of Barren County High School. She went on to graduate in 1980 from Western Kentucky University, where she met her husband, Danny Schmidt.

Lisa was Assistant Vice President of Business Systems for Lifepoint Health. She deeply enjoyed her over 30+ year career in the healthcare financial systems industry.

Survivors include her devoted husband of over 42 years, Danny Schmidt; children, Kelsey Hall (Michael) and Drew Schmidt (Hannah); grandchildren, Easton, Makayla and Lyela Hall, and a granddaughter on the way, Ann Elizabeth Schmidt; sister, Kathleen Gibson; brother, Daryl Johnson (Judy); and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Lisa was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Bruce Gibson.

Lisa was an avid reader, gardener, and sports fan. She enjoyed cheering on the Louisville Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, and WKU Hilltoppers. She also looked forward to vacations to the beach with her family. She loved spending time outdoors, especially at her childhood farm or in her own backyard.

Visitation is 1-7pm EDT on Friday, July 24, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky.

A private, family burial will take place at 10am CDT, Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Merry Oaks Cemetery in Barren County, Kentucky.

The family wants to extend their utmost gratitude towards the caring and attentive nurses, doctors, and staff of Norton Women and Children’s Oncology Floor and Hosparus Health.
