Lela Smith, 87, died Saturday, April 27, 2024.

She was born November 21, 1936 in Spencer County, Kentucky, daughter of Clem and Mary Lilliam Jump Chadwell.

Lela worked at the old Reba's Bakery and retired from Winn Dixie in Fern Creek.  She was a member of Ninth & O Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Smith; and children, Gregory Smith and Tana Sue Mitchell.

Survivors include her children, James Smith, Mary Lou Gibson, Ruth Jenkins, Marla Jo Walden and Lela Macke; grandchildren; great grandchildren; and great great grandchildren.

Her funeral is 2pm Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home with burial in Highland Memory Gardens.  Visitation is 12-7pm Tuesday, April 30, 2024.
