Kenneth E. Basham, 93, went to be with his Heavenly Father on January 19, 2024, in Louisville, Kentucky.
He was born August 20, 1930, in Louisville, Kentucky, son of Audie J and Anna M. (Shaffer) Basham. He was a life-long, dedicated member of the Atwood Wesleyan Church and served for many years on the board of the church. He retired from Ford Motor Company after 41 years of service.
Ken graduated from Louisville Male High School where he was a proud member the "H" club for basketball and baseball. He was known as "Footsie" to many of his teammates. After high school he continued with his sports career playing semi-pro basketball and industrial league fast pitch softball. Ken was an avid golfer and the "A" player in many charity golf tournaments.
In addition to his parents, Ken was preceded in death by his brothers John Basham (Dorothy) and Ed Basham (Norma); sisters-in-law Joyce Roberson (Jack) and Wanda Roberts; brother-in-law Allen Smith; and sons-in-law Joe Braisted and Jim Wilson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Lataine Puckett Basham; children Beverly Wilson, Debbie Berry (Dan), Dottie Franks (Jeff) and Kenny Basham (Susie); grandchildren Michael Braisted (Amanda), Joshua Braisted, Tim Braisted, Jamie Wilson, Kathy Stephens (Chris), David Basham (Renee), and Kristina Caudill (Scott); great-grandchildren Landon Braisted, Nohemi Braisted, Levi Braisted, Elijah Basham, Adelaide Basham, Emori Basham, Theodore Caudill, Wyatt Stephens and Rhett Stephens; brothers George Basham (Rosemary) and Robert Basham (Laverne); sister-in-law Irene Smith and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Visitation is 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road and 10:00 am Saturday until the time of the service.
His funeral is Saturday, January 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at Fern Creek Funeral Home with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park.
