Obituary

Karen Louise Fidler Meredith arrived at her heavenly home on Easter Sunday, just in time for supper (and birthday cake, as she was quick to remind anyone that Easter took place on her dad's birthday this year.) She was 59 years old.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on October 17, 1964. After the first day or two, her entire life was lived in the Fern Creek and Jeffersontown areas. She was a graduate of Fern Creek High School and attended Western Kentucky University. She was an employee of Lifeway Christian
Store, formerly known as the Baptist Book Store, for over 30 years until their closing in 2019. When she began working there shortly after the birth of her first child, she could never have imagined the impact it would have on her life. Working at "the bookstore" brought Karen countless opportunities to minister to others, and allowed her to be ministered to. It also gave her decades-long friendships and found family. After unofficial retirement, Karen was promoted to full-time Yaya, an opportunity that allowed her to be present for moments and milestones in the lives of her grandchildren that she may have missed for her own children due to the nature of being a working parent.
Present at Karen's homecoming were her parents, John and Irene Fidler, and her biological mother, whom she was looking forward to meeting in heaven one day. She leaves behind to treasure her memory her husband of 37 years, Josh Meredith; son, Jonathan; daughter, Jessi; son-in-law Brandon, grandchildren Sterling, Gino, Ivy, and Henry; her brother Keith; nephew, Chris; niece, Deborah; half-siblings ,Robbie and Wally; many great-nieces and great-nephews; dear friends and countless acquaintances and strangers who were impacted by her kind and loving spirit; and the best puppy ever, Loki.

"I didn't think it would end this way."
"End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path. One that we must all take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all tu rns to silver glass…and then you see it."
"What? Gandalf…see what?"
White shores…and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise."
"Well, that isn't so bad."
"No, no it isn't."

Her funeral is 4pm Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road with private entombment.  Visitation is 3-7pm Friday, April 5, 2024 and after 2pm Saturday until the time of the service.
