Obituary

Joyce Ann Robinson was born to Roy Winiford Scroggs and Elsie Danette Scroggs (Taylor) in Bonnie Blue, Virginia, on September 22, 1936. She died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, June 1, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky. She moved to Dayton, Ohio with her family in 1947 and graduated from Patterson Co-op High School in 1954. She went to Civil Service Training and then worked for the Dayton Credit Collection Bureau before meeting Harold "Rob" Robinson, who was the love of her life. Thery were married in Ada, Minnesota and lived in Grand Forks and Minot, North Dakota for 8 years while Rob was the lead plumbing contractor for the Air Force bases being built there. During that time, Joyce worked as an administrative assistant for the Air Force.

Joyce and Rob shared a love for living on the water and planned their lives accordingly. In 1960 they purchased a massive private residence on Herrington Lake in Kentucky. They built cabins and turned it into a private water ski resort, Sunset Lodge, which they owned and operated until 1979. They hosted the Midwest Regional Water Ski Tournaments there for several years, enjoying life on the lake in the summers, Rob had promised after 8 years of living in frozen North Dakota, that they would live where it was warm. So, from October to April each year they relocated to Florida. They lived in Ft. Lauderdale aboard a boat on the New River. During that time, Joyce worked as an administrative assistant to a ship builder while Rob learned the swimming pool business. In 1969, they relocated their winter home base to Naples, Florida where they purchased Nassau Pools. They operated it until Rob retired at the age of 50 in the early 1980's. In accordance with their "master plan," they purchased a gentleman's farm in Harrodsburg, Kentucky. They built the house and pool of their dreams and focused on raising horses and cattle and traveling. Having lived aboard several yachts in South Florida and traveling in South Florida and the Keys all those years they finally settled in a condo on Honeymoon Island as their winter home and lived there for 25 winters. They loved to cruise and over the years they went on 47 Cruises and took 4 Amtrak tours of the American West. They enjoyed showing horses and boating on Lake Cumberland and Dale Hollow in the Summers.

Joyce and Rob enjoyed a wonderful and happy life together and were devoted and attentive to their daughter Jill, with whom they remained close throughout their lives.   Joyce was a devoted step-mother and was loved by her step-daughters, Shari and Cindi.  Their families were an important part of her life, providing six grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Joyce said "a good life is a life well lived with happiness and love," and that's the kind of life she lived with her beloved Rob. It is fitting that she is now in his loving arms for eternity. There will be a memorial celebration of life at some point in the near future,
