Pete Carpenter, 92, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025.

He was born John Briggs Carpenter on January 27, 1933, son of Bee and Essie Mae Fox Carpenter.

Pete was a signal engineer and retired from L&N/CSX Railroad. He cherished the relationships he maintained with friends from the railroad and always looked forward to monthly lunches with friends from high school in Bowling Green, Kentucky. He was an Army veteran.

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his wife, Nell Carpenter; son, John David Carpenter; and siblings, Morris Carpenter and Alberta Lentz.

Survivors include his children, Sandy McGill (Jack), Tom Carpenter (Pattie) and Bill Carpenter (Kim); grandchildren, Kristen Jones (Nick), Brian McGill (Kristen), Jennifer Russo (Michael), Zach Carpenter (Heather) Casey Elzy (Ben) and Taylor Carpenter (Kyle Priddy); great grandchildren, Colleen and Will Jones, Winnie Carpenter and Eleanor Elzy; and sister, Janie Miller.

Funeral service is 1pm Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road followed by a committal service with military honors at Resthaven Memorial Park.  Visitation is after 11am until the start of the service.
