James Edward Vogt, 86, died Wednesday, July 20, 2022. He was a 1958 graduate of the University of Kentucky and served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of Buechel Presbyterian Church and Buechel Masonic Lodge. Jim was active in Buechel Chapter of Jaycees, served as Kentucky Jaycees President and served on the UK alumni board.
Jim began his career with Kentucky Fried Chicken in 1966 then moved to help develop Wendy's hamburger franchise in Atlanta, Georgia. Last moving back to Louisville in 1975 to end his career with Mr. Gatti's pizza.
Jim is survived by his wife, Ann Hawkins Vogt; son, James E. "Jim" Vogt, II (Allyson); daughter, Ginger Vogt Thompson; grandchildren, Ryan ( Alex), Eric ( Ellen), and Chris Vogt and Ava Thompson; great granddaughter, Vivian Vogt; and brother, John P. Vogt (Joyce).
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Vogt; and son-in-law, David P. Thompson.
Jim, or Pop to his grandkids, was a friend to all. His grandkids were the light of his life and he loved them deeply. Jim and Ann have been married for over 64 years and enjoyed their lifelong groups of friends and traveling.
Memorial visitation is 2-4pm Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road .
