Obituary

John David ("JD") Moore passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, November 18, 2022, at the age of 72. JD was the second son of Clyde and Marie Moore, born on July 12, 1950 and was raised in Fern Creek, Kentucky. He attended Western Kentucky University where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He went on to attend the University of Louisville Dental School. Following graduation, he pursued a career in dentistry, practicing in Buechel, Kentucky and serving as an adjunct professor at the University of Louisville Dental School for 44 years. He was passionate about his career and his countless patients over the years.

JD was a loving husband to his wife of 36 years, Sonnie Edwards Moore of Brazil, Indiana. The couple raised one daughter, Karsen Thornton (Clay), in Anchorage, Kentucky. He was immensely proud of their daughter and loved the life that he and his wife built together. JD was a loyal and compassionate friend to many throughout his life, including several lifelong friends who he cherished and treated as family.

In addition to his family and friends, JD was devoted to serving his country. He achieved the rank of Colonel in the Kentucky Air National Guard, where he served for 37 years and was the Commander of the 123 rd Medical Unit.

JD was a lifelong member of Beulah Presbyterian Church. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Marie Krebs Moore, his father, Clyde Thomas Moore, and his brother, Charles Thomas Moore.

Services will be held at Fern Creek Funeral Home. The visitation will be from 3-7 PM on ­­Tuesday, November 22, 2022 and funeral services will be at 1 PM on ­Wednesday, November 23, 2022.  Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to WHAS Crusade for Children or Stache Strong (brain tumor research).

Thank you to his friends who visited, called, and brought fish sandwiches and gizzards during his lengthy illness. The family would also like to thank his caregivers James and Delores who took such excellent care of him, especially in his final few days of life. You are very special people, and we truly appreciate you more than you will ever know.
