James Farmer Simpson, Sr. - 77, formerly of Louisville, KY, entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 6, 2026. He passed peacefully in his home surrounded by love. He was born on August 25, 1948 to Bertha (Collett) and Frank Simpson.

James loved deep sea fishing and spending time with family and friends. He was a UK fan and loved seafood and riding dirt bikes in his younger days. He was a painter by trade and was always eager to help in any way that he could. James loved and knew the Lord and we can take comfort in knowing that he is in his eternal home in the presence of God and his loved ones that have gone before him.

James is survived by his children, Angela Hindman (Mike), James Simpson Jr. (Tracy), Chris Simpson (Ruby), Zachary Simpson (Katie), Beth Lyons (Jason) and his former wife Susan. Grandchildren, Travis, Ryan, Alex, Tyler Cave, Ariel, Tyler, Erica, Grace, Reeves, Daniel, Abel James, and a host of great grandchildren, 2 siblings, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Melissa and 7 siblings.

The family would like to thank Helen Jennings for all her compassion, devotion, love and care which were a great blessing in James’s final years, as well as Gentiva Hospice for providing comfort and peace for James and his family.

Visitation will be held on April 25, 2026 from Noon to 3:00 pm and service at 3:00 pm at Fern Creek Funeral Home 5406 Bardstown Road Louisville, KY 40291, (502) 499-1361.
