James "Steve" McCubbin, age 59, passed away unexpectedly on June 14th, 2019 from injuries sustained during a construction accident.

Steve was born October 29th, 1958 in Louisville, Kentucky, graduated from Durrett High School, and earned a business degree from the University of Louisville. Steve owned his own business - Home Craftsman Services, LLC. His was an outstanding craftsman who was fortunate to spend his work hours doing what he loved, expressing his creativity and skill in the houses he refurbished throughout Louisville.

Steve was deeply devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his father, James McCubbin. He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Rhonda Vassie McCubbin, his two boys Tyler and Preston, and the family dog Chowder. He also leaves behind his mother, Norma McCubbin, and sister, Deborah McCubbin Howard.

Steve cherished time outdoors with his family, sharing his passion for kayaking, hiking, and scuba diving. Steve will be remembered for his hearty laugh, generosity, and his "heart of gold." His accomplishments were outweighed only by his dreams.

Services will be held at 6pm on Wednesday, June 19 ^th with visitation period from 3-6pm at Fern Creek Funeral Home located at 5406 Bardstown Road. Steve loved his tropical shirts, please feel free to wear one to the service or have "a cold one" in his honor. We hope the day can be filled with joy and celebration, as was our dear Steve.
