Obituary

James Earl Garmon, 74, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2026.

Born on June 16, 1951, in Jeffersonville, Kentucky, James was the son of Amos and Jewell Smith Garmon. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army before continuing a lifetime of service to his community. James worked as an officer with the Jeffersonville Police Department, as a corrections officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department, and later

served as a security officer for Jefferson County Public Schools
Protecting and helping others was not just his career—it was who he was.

Outside of his work, James had a passion for cars, especially his beloved Mustangs. He was a devoted University of Kentucky fan and never missed a chance to cheer on his team. He also had a deep love for professional wrestling, particularly WWE, which brought him endless enjoyment.

More than anything, James will be remembered for his caring heart. He consistently put others before himself and was always ready to lend a helping hand—even when it meant going without. His generosity, loyalty, and quiet strength left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his sons, Brandon Garmon and Noah Garmon; his cherished grandchildren, Luka and Freya; and his dear friend, Rhonda Wigginton, along with her family.

Memorial visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road and be followed by a service with military honors at 2:00 p.m.
