Irene Parker, 84, died Tuesday, March 24, 2026.

She was born Hazel Irene Fischer on June 23, 1941, daughter of Edward and Rose Nelson Fischer.

Irene was a member of Cove Baptist Church and formerly worked as a delivery person for the Courier Journal/Louisville Times. She loved cheering for the UK Wildcats and had a huge collection of UK and KY Derby memorabilia. She enjoyed searching for these treasures at flea markets, yard sales and Peddler’s Malls with her identical twin sister, Maxine and niece, Mendee.

In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her husband, David Parker; sons, Duke, Dwayne and Troy Paulley; and siblings, Charlotte Kohler, Maxine Hibbs and Ivan Fischer.

Survivors include her children, Linn Paulley (Patty), Joseph Paulley (Christy), and Todd Paulley; daughter-in-law, Laura Paulley; 13 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Her funeral is 10am Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky with burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation is 3-7pm Wednesday, April 1, 2026 and after 9am Thursday until the time of the funeral.
