Ina Ree Baker (nѐe Talley), age 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born on April 21, 1927, in Alvaton, Kentucky, Ina Ree was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joel D. Talley, Sr. She grew up in a close-knit family alongside her brother, Joel D. Talley, Jr., and her sister, Marguerite Moman. Her early years in Louisville laid the foundation for a life marked by resilience, faith, and dedication.
Ina Ree pursued her education with determination and grace. She graduated from Shawnee High School before continuing her studies at Georgetown College where she met her husband-to-be, Ivan (aka Cue Ball). Her academic journey reflected her lifelong commitment to learning and personal growth.
She was a retired long-distance telephone operator, a kindergarten teacher, and an elementary school substitute teacher. A woman of deep faith, Ina Ree was a devoted member of Highview Baptist Church in Louisville. Her connection to the church community was a source of strength and fellowship throughout her life.
Ina Ree's legacy lives on through her children: daughter, Marbara Stivers (Jordan); sons, Miles and Carlisle; grandchildren, Andrew (Hannah) and Emily Stivers, and great-grandson, Toby; and her extended family, Sharon Kinnison, Hilary Brown, Montie Garcia and Jerry Magers. Her love and guidance shaped many lives in countless ways.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, sister, and her loving husband, Ivan.
Ina Ree Baker's long life was a testament to enduring values and quiet strength. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank Hosparus for their care during this final stage of Ina Ree's life.
Her funeral is 6:00pm Tuesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Rd with private burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation is after 2:00 pm until the time of the service.
