Obituary

Howard Edward Perkins , 71, died Monday, December 26, 2022 at his home in Bardstown.

Howard was born July 19, 1951 in Blue Island, Illinois.  He flew captain as an airline pilot but whenever asked what he did for a living he liked to say that he was a farmer.  He enjoyed working outdoors from sunup to sundown.  Howard was a farrier and along with his wife, he raised Tennessee Walking Horses.

He enjoyed flying his small plane for recreation and was a certified flight instructor.  Music was a big part of his life and his passion was the banjo.  He played in bluegrass bands, including his own – H. Perkins Bluegrass.

His faith was very important to him and he walked the 500 mile pilgrimage – Camino de Santiago.  He belonged to the Basilica of St. Joseph Proto-Cathedral in Bardstown.

Howard was a Vietnam veteran, served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion Post #42, Bardstown.

Howard is survived by his wife of 34 years, Donna Corum Perkins; brothers, Gerald "Jerry" Perkins and David Perkins.  He was predeceased by his father, Henry Perkins; and mother, Barbara Springer Perkins.

A funeral mass was held at St. Michael the Archangel Church in Fairfield, KY. He was buried in St Michael Cemetery in Fairfield, KY.
