Henry Quentin
Crane
April 28, 2024
HENRY QUENTIN "Big Pa" CRANE, of Louisville passed away on April 28, 2024 in the comfort of his home at the age of 83.
Born to the late Henry and Addie Crane on May 18, 1940, Henry was raised in Greer, South Carolina alongside his two sisters. He married Mildred Clara Schureck on November 26, 1960 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in Fern Creek where they both served in many capacities for over 60 years.
Henry spent his career serving various industries and businesses ranging from silk flower sales to convenience store manager. Though he enjoyed every job he undertook, his children's favorite was his time spent as a toy buyer in the 1970s. In 1989 Henry co-founded Crane Hardscape Supply with his youngest son Paul. He spent the golden years of his career cultivating this family business and helping his son and daughter-in-law build it into the thriving enterprise it is today.
Henry was especially proud of his years spent as a founding member of the Men's Club and a coach at St. Gabriel. Henry and Mildred spent 18 years as sponsors in the Rite of Christian Initiation program and, as a convert himself, Henry greatly cherished his time spent supporting so many others in their faith journeys. He also served as a sacristan at the noon Mass every Sunday for many years. Together, Henry and Mildred built a life centered on faith, compassion, and family that has fostered a legacy of love in all those they encountered.
Henry is survived by his beloved wife Mildred and two sisters, Marie Campbell of Greer, SC and Brenda (Tim) Davis of Charleston, SC. Henry and Mildred's four children are Mark (Leanna) Crane, Alex (Vicky) Crane, Susan (Stephen) Bowling, and Paul (Eva) Crane. He adored every moment spent with his twelve grandchildren: Dmitry Borisov, Kyle (Jessica) Crane, Eric Crane, Lauren (Zachary) Price, Andrew (Hilary) Crane, Carolyne Bowling, Emily Bowling, Addie (Austin) Treglown, Alexis Crane, David (Haley) Crane, Thomas Bowling, and Abigail Crane. Henry also greatly cherished his eight great-grandchildren: Maci and Avery Crane, Lucy, Townes and Llewyn Price, Paxton Crane, Caroline Treglown and a baby girl Treglown arriving in the Summer of 2024.
Visitation will be held Thursday May 2, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291. A funeral Mass will be held Friday May 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291.
