Hattie
Moloney
April 22, 2026
Hattie Margaret Moloney, nee Hall, passed away peacefully April 22, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Daniel A. Moloney.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Michael C. Moloney (Joy), Daniel F. Moloney (Linda), Stephen P. Moloney, Kathleen M. Thomas (Darrell), Julie A. Moloney, and a very dear grandson, Nathan A. Moloney (Jessica).
Born April 24, 1935 in Frederickstown, KY, "The Burg", she moved to Louisville at the age of 18. She worked for the old Kentucky Trust before marrying, and spent the next 20 years raising children. She then went on to work for Kroger for the next 40 years, where she was a very familiar face to most people in Fern Creek. Hattie never met a stranger. Quick-witted and honest (sometimes to a fault!), she was a natural people person. Hattie was generous, and there was not a thing she wouldn't give someone in need if she was able. She could turn almost any situation into something comical, and her strength will always be remembered.
Hattie was an active member of St Gabriel the Archangel Church for many years. Upon moving from the area around St. Gabriel, she continued to drive there in order to sing in the choir at funeral masses. Hattie was impatient when she saw something that needed to be done, and could be done, and she was quick to keep it on your radar until it was done, and done correctly. She will forever be remembered for her quick, sometimes irreverent humor, her generosity, her love of family, and her dedication to a job well done.
Hattie leaves behind 9 loving grandchildren. Nathan A. Moloney, Cate Katzman, Neil Thomas, Justina, Jillian, Patrick, and Colin Moloney, Vincent Moloney, and Dallas Cline.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hosparus, whose loving care made her life comfortable until the end.
Memorial mass is 10am Saturday, May 23, 2026 at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 5505 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky.
