It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Harold Reinhart, affectionately known as “Uncle Harold” on September 28, 2026 at 102 years of age. Throughout his life he had a deep devotion to his family and friends and dedicated much of his life helping others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Lillian; his sister Mildred Bale (Odgen); two brothers, Louis Reinhart (Oneda) and William Reinhart; great nephew, Louis Edward Reinhart III; and dear friend, Sue Aton.

Those left to honor his memory include his nieces and nephews, Louis Edward Reinhart II (Cindy), Janet Reinhart Farmer (Mike), Raymond Ogden Bale Jr. (Nancy), Sharon Bale Turner (Bill); and many great nieces and nephews.

Harold was the oldest living graduate from Dupont Manual High School and attended the University of Louisville. He worked for the L&N Railroad prior to joining the Army at the beginning of World War II. His supervisor at L&N had President F. D. Roosevelt to write a letter recommending his military service be in the railroad. During World War II he served in the 720th Railroad Operation Battalion in France and Belgium and participated in the invasion of Normandy with three bronze stars. He received the Good Conduct Medal, European, African, Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze service stars, World War II Victory Medal, and Honorable Service Lapel Button World War II.

After the war he joined his brother, Louis Reinhart to create Reinhart Brothers Builders. They eventually bought a farm and became full time farmers raising cattle and crops. He was a member of the Mosaic Methodist church. Through his life he generously shared his many talents, knowledge and time with those he loved and will be greatly missed.

His funeral is 4pm Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, Kentucky with private burial at South Jefferson Cemetery. Visitation is after 2pm until the time of the service. His nephew Louis Edward Reinhart IV will officiate the service.
