Obituary

George Joseph Schureck Jr., age 92, passed away on January 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of honor, service, and an unwavering dedication to his family.

On February 24, 1962, George married the love of his life, Phyllis Ann Moyher. Their marriage, spanning more than six decades, served as the cornerstone of their family. Phyllis survives her husband.

A veteran of the United States Army, George proudly served his country during the Korean War. He later translated his disciplined nature into a successful career as an environmental engineer, including 28 years of service with the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

Family remained the central focus of George's life. He is survived by his children: Donna Yearta (Terry), George Joseph Schureck III, James Schureck (Emma), and David Schureck (Jennifer). He was a proud grandfather to ten grandchildren and a great-grandfather to three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, MaryAnne Kaelin and Mildred Crane, and his brother, Edward Schureck. He was preceded in death by his brothers, William Schureck and Joseph Schureck.

George was a founding member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and a lifelong, devoted fan of the Cincinnati Reds. Whether following the national pastime or spending time with his large family, he found joy in the simple, enduring traditions of life.

Visitation: Thursday, February 5, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fern Creek Funeral Home.

Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, February 6, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Fern Creek to honor his life.
