George McKinney, 84, died Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

He was born Elmo Garrett McKinney on October 14, 1938 in LaFollette, TN, son of Carl and Grace McKinney.  George worked in law enforcement as a railroad detective and retired from Norfolk Southern Railway.  He was an Army veteran and member of West Broadway Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Evelyn Warhurst McKinney; children, Sherry Bell (Mark), Julia Morgan (Cordie), Roger McKinney (Kristen) and Elizabeth Aldridge (Jared); grandchildren, Jacob and Emma McKinney, Ethan and Hannah Aldridge, Jessica Almy, Elise Mundy and Mckenzie Morgan; great grandchildren, Wes and Violet Almy and Logan Mundy; and sister, Elva.

His funeral is 3pm Monday, October 2, 2023 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.  Visitation is after 1pm Monday until the time of the service.  Private burial in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central.
