George L. Basham, 98, passed peacefully from this life on January 2, 2025 into the presence of the God whom he loved, walked with and served.

He was born May 5, 1926, in Louisville, KY, the second son of Audie and Anna Mae Schaffer Basham. George was a graduate of Male High School and attended business college. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Rosemary, for 72 years.  George was a long-time member of Atwood Wesleyan Church. In 1969 he moved with his family to Hobe Sound, FL to serve in the business department of Hobe Sound Bible College. He retired from the college in 1998 and moved to Sugar Hill, GA to be near his daughters and grandchildren.

George is survived by his wife, Rosemary Pommerehn Basham, daughters, Karen Johnson (Dennis), Miriam McCoy (John), and Marsena Vaughan (John), seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, brother, Robert Basham (LaVerne) and many nieces and nephews.

His funeral service is 3pm Friday, January 10, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, Louisville, KY with a private burial. Visitation is after 1 pm Friday until the time of the service.
