Gene Darrell Scoggins, 76, died Friday, February 11, 2022.

He was a member of Highview Baptist Church, an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, and member of the American Legion. He worked in electronic engineering and retired from Grindmaster.  He also worked for Advanced Filtration Concepts and Armor Elevator.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Basil Scoggins and Cuba Russell Scoggins Smith; and siblings, David Smith, Rose Marie Elzey, Samuel Scoggins, Glen Scoggins, and Doris Jean Scoggins.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Mae Knipp Scoggins; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Scoggins Terry; grandboys, Caleb Michael and Jackson Darrell Terry and their father, Bryan Terry; siblings, Betty Terry, Donna Smith Jones, Joseph Scoggins (Nancy), Carol Sue Perry (Glen) and Tyrone Scoggins; and uncle, Kenneth Ray Scoggins (Aurelia).  He is also survived by several in-laws, nieces and nephews.

His funeral is 11:30am Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Highview Baptist Church, 7711 Fegenbush Lane with entombment in Louisville Memorial Gardens West.  Visitation is 3-7pm Tuesday and 12-7pm Wednesday at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road and after 10am Thursday until the time of the service at the church.

His family requests that masks be worn at all visitations and services.
