Gary Wayne Haynes, 77, died Saturday, August 29, 2026

He was born October 28, 1948, in Bowling Green, Kentucky, son of Leon and Gwendolyn Wheeler Haynes.

Gary retired as a tool and die maker for General Electric after 35 years of service. He served in the 389th Military Intelligence Detachment, 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and retired after 20 years as Chief Warrant Officer 4. He was a graduate of DuPont Manual High School and the University of Louisville, a 20-year member of Kentuckiana Real Estate Investors Association and a member of Unity of East Louisville Church.

Survivors include children, Robert Haynes, Jason Haynes (Bridgett) and Kimberly Durbin; grandchildren, Charlie Durbin, Lena Durbin, Easton Haynes and Naomi Haynes; and siblings, Martha Anderson (Virgil) and Doris Long.

His funeral is 6 p.m. Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY 40291. Visitation is 10 a.m. till 6 p.m. Service immediately following. Inurnment is 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, September 8, 2026, in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central, 2501 N. Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160.
