Frank
Lovell
January 26, 2023
Frank Lovell, 79, died Thursday, January 26, 2023 from injuries sustained in a fall.
He was born Francis Leon Lovell, Jr. on June 21, 1943 in Ashland, Kentucky, son of Francis and Evelyn Whitaker Lovell.
Frank was a graduate of Waggoner High School, attended the University of Louisville and earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of Kentucky.
In addition and in Frank's own words:
"Graduate physical organic chemist. Served 4 years (June'64-June'68, the last three years overseas from the Bering Sea to the West Indian Ocean) in the U.S. Army Security Agency's 1st Special Activities Detachment as an electronic warfare equipment maintenance specialist and data intercept operator/analyst. Retired from 30-year career with GE. Philosophically a Critical Rationalist and agnostic atheist; politically a live-and-let-live [little-l] libertarian (economically conservative, socially liberal). Husband and father; freethinking public evangelist of Reason; amateur astronomer; chess-player; voracious reader; severely addicted to music of every genre (but mostly classical, straight-ahead Jazz, and the music of the progressive rock bands of the late '60s through the early '90s). Used to SCUBA, play drums (Jazz and Blues), bass fish, and ride a motorcycle but lately I've been practicing doing mostly Internet philosophizing and practicing-up for serious geezer-hood."
He is survived by his wife, Debbie Hosch Lovell; children, Annie Lovell, Frank Lovell, III, Alicia Lovell (Dennis Nalley) and SImon Lovell (Sneha Thapa); sister, Lynne Smith (Lachlan) and brother, Brad Lovell.
Visitation is 3-7pm Monday, January 30, 2023 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road.
